Why Quality Control Is Not About Products — It Is About Trust
By Arnold Ji, Founder of SKDK SPORT
A brand can lose years of trust through one product it never approved.
We were reminded of this on the sewing floor.
The woman leading the discussion in the photo above is our production supervisor — one of the most responsible and decisive leaders on our team. She stays close to production, personally checks overseas orders, and raises problems while there is still time to solve them.
That is why we do not manage production only from an office. We go to the workshop, inspect the actual products, and discuss problems and solutions with the people closest to the work.
The Unauthorized Production That Caught Our Attention
Recently, our supervisor alerted us to products being made with the SKDK name without our authorization. Their quality did not meet the standards we expect from anything carrying our sports protection brand.
This is more than a logo issue. Poor-quality knee supports, ankle braces, or sports braces can damage the trust our distributors and end customers have built with us over years of consistent delivery.
We are moving quickly to investigate and protect their interests.
Quality Control Is a Trust Asset, Not a Production Task
I have always believed that customers and suppliers should grow together. When our customers sell well, build stronger brands, and earn healthy profits, we earn the right to grow with them.
That is why quality control in sports protection manufacturing is more than a production task. It is how we protect a long-term asset.
And long-term assets are built by people who take responsibility before a small issue becomes a bigger one.
At SKDK SPORT, every product that leaves our partner factories — whether a knee support, ankle brace, wrist wrap, or sports protection accessory — goes through the same scrutiny. Not because we are afraid of defects, but because we understand that each product represents a promise made to a distributor, a brand, or an end user.
A Question for the Industry
What is the earliest warning sign you look for when protecting product quality and brand reputation in your supply chain?

Frequently Asked Questions
What is quality control really protecting in a sports protection brand?
The name on the product. A brand can lose years of trust through one product it never approved. Our production supervisor flagged exactly that: items being made with the SKDK name without our authorization, at a quality we would never ship. That's not a logo problem. It's a credibility problem.
How do you catch quality problems before they reach a customer?
By being on the floor, not in the office. Our production supervisor stays close to production, personally checks overseas orders, and raises problems while there's still time to solve them. We go to the workshop, inspect the actual products, and talk through problems with the people closest to the work.
Does every product get the same level of inspection?
Every one. Everything leaving our partner factories, whether it's a knee support, an ankle brace, a wrist wrap, or another sports protection accessory, goes through the same scrutiny. Not because we're afraid of defects, but because each piece represents a promise made to a distributor, a brand, or an end user.
What should I do if someone is making my brand without permission?
Move quickly and document everything. Unauthorized production carrying your name is a quality problem before it becomes a legal one, because poor knee supports or ankle braces sold under your brand spend trust your distributors and end customers spent years building. Find out where it's coming from and stop it.
Is quality control a manufacturing cost or a business asset?
An asset. Customers and suppliers should grow together. When your customers sell well, build stronger brands, and earn healthy profit, that's how we earn the right to grow with them. Long-term assets get built by people who take responsibility before a small issue turns into a bigger one.
